The Eye Behind the Lens

Elliot Sng is a Singapore‑based director of photography with over twelve years of experience shooting documentaries, commercials and corporate films. His work has taken him across Asia and beyond, capturing stories for clients such as National Geographic and VICE
He brings a grounded, flexible approach to every project, from fast‑moving documentaries where he adapts on the fly to carefully lit commercial sets where every movement and source of light serves a purpose. He strives to let the story breathe through his images, where emotion finds its voice in silence and simplicity.
Elliot’s cinematography on Islands That Made Us earned the 2020 Asian Academy Creative Award for Best Cinematography, and his work on Lady! won Best Non‑Fiction at the Show for Change Film Festival in 2023.
Collaborative by nature, he values preparation in pre‑production as much as adaptability on set, believing that the best images emerge when planning and instinct meet. Outside of filmmaking, Elliot finds calm in snowboarding and the outdoors, spaces where he can disconnect and reset from the rush of production life.
